This departure is a bit different than others as we have rented most of our Venetian apartment. So yesterday, we turned over the larger part of the apartment, locked the deadbolt on our bedroom suite, and prepared for our departure to Rio. We will be in Ft Lauderdale very few days between now and early July 2015, so we will adapt to living in less than 1,000 sf.
And it was a whirlwind day: real estate showings, closing on unit 1010 rental, setting up a parking arrangement for Mary Dineen and a tenant, deposit checks and final packing.
We ordered an Uber at 5 pm and headed to Miami.
Traffic was heavy and it took us 1.5 hours to get to MIA. But check-in at TAM was swift and security
wasn’t backed up. They didn’t have
TSA-Pre but we got through the regular security line without much delay. We went to the lounge and relaxed with a
glass of wine.
We went to the gate at 7:30 pm, stored our luggage, and settled in for our
8.5 hour flight from MIA to Rio. The
service and food were marginal, but okay.
I didn’t think the seats were that comfortable either, but it did
convert to a flat bed for sleeping.
I watched Ricky and the Flash with Meryl Streep – it was
just okay. We had dinner and then laid down and I tried to sleep. Tim went to sleep right away as usual. I think I “rested” for maybe 4 hours but not
much sleep.
